Granite Worktops

Granite is a light-colored igneous rock with grains large enough to be visible with the naked eye.  It forms from the slow crystallization of magma below Earth's surface with Magma being the molten or semi-molten natural material from which all igneous rocks are formed.  Granite is composed mainly of quartz and feldspar with minor amounts of mica, amphiboles, and other minerals. This mineral composition usually gives granite a red, pink, gray, or white color with dark mineral grains visible throughout the rock.

Many people recognize granite because it is the most common igneous rock found at Earth's surface and because granite is used to make many objects that we encounter in daily life. These include  worktops, floor tiles, paving stones, curbing, stair treads, building cladding, and cemetery monuments. Granite is used all around us.  Granite is a prestige material, used in projects to produce impressions of elegance and quality but is entirely affordable.

We at Windsmere are proud to offer a large selection of Granite in large slab format in our stone yard.  You can see, feel and absorb the beauty of these natural stones and get a real impression of how they will fit into your home and life.  We have the largest selection of large format slabs of any manufacturer in the South West and would be delighted to show you our range.  Stones change all of the time and we urge you to come along for a visit to see for yourself the incredible works of art that nature produces and which you can have in your home and as granites are produced from many quarries located throughout the world this yields a huge color palette for mixing and matching stone.
